History of Solar Energy
Inventors unlocked the secrets of turning the sun's rays into mechanical power more than a century ago, only to see their dream machines collapse from lack of public support. Modern solar engineers must not be doomed to relive their fate. -
EERE: Solar Energy Technologies Program
he Solar Energy Technologies program focuses on developing cost-effective solar-energy technologies that have the greatest potential to benefit our nation and the world. Solar technologies diversify our energy supply, reduce our dependence on imported fuels, improve air quality, and offset greenhouse gas emissions. A growing solar industry also stimulates our economy by creating jobs in solar manufacturing and installation. -
NREL"National Renewable Energy Laboratory
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) Photovoltaic (PV) research is focused on decreasing the nation's reliance on fossil-fuel generated electricity by lowering the cost of delivered electricity and improving the efficiency of PV modules and systems. NREL's PV research contributes to these goals through fundamental research, advanced materials and devices, and technology development. -

How to make a Solar Power Generator for Less than $300
Using parts easily available from your local stores, you can make a small solar power generator for $250 to $300. Great for power failures and life outside the power grid. Power your computer, modem, vcr, tv, cameras, lights, or DC appliances anywhere you go. Use in cabins, boats, tents, archaeological digs, or while travelling throughout the third world. Have one in the office store room in case of power failures in your highrise. I keep mine in my bedroom where it powers my cd player, turntable, lights, modem, laptop, and (ahem) a back massager. I run a line out the window to an 8" x 24" panel on the roof. -
Find Solar.com
The Solar Estimator is meant only to give you an idea of price, savings and system size. The results are based upon many assumptions and the limited data you will enter. An actual site assessment by a qualified Solar Pro will be needed to determine the actual costs and benefits of installing a solar system. Please read the results screen carefully, including the extensive list of Notes and Assumptions. -
SEIA: Solar Energy Industries Associaton
The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is the national trade association for the solar industry. We work to expand markets, strengthen research and development, remove market barriers, and improve education and outreach for solar. SEIA is closely affiliated with the Solar Alliance coalition.
